Scenes from a rock pool

What is a rock pool you ask? Well, what else do you call a naturally shallow warm spot, perfect for bathing? We found such a place at Mahia Peninsula, a rural outpost about 2 hours from our home where we recently camped. Of course there was a gorgeous long strand of sand opposite the campground, but just a few minute away, round nearly every bend was another gorgeous secluded beach where if there were more than two people it was considered crowded. At high tide, the waves sprayed atop the granite and sandstone rocks, delivering fresh seashell to the shore, and by low tide the rock formations made perfect wading pools for the overheated sunbather.
